Celebrate Earth Day with a fabulous concert of the Shasta Symphony, performing music related to ideas of our amazing planet. The Shasta Symphony Orchestra’s “Earth Day Concert” will have two showings on Saturday, April 22 at 7:30pm, and another show on Sunday, April 23, at 3:00pm in the Shasta College Theater. Tickets are $5/student with ID; $8/senior; $10/general. Montana composer David Maslanka’s compositions are often filled with a child-like wonder and awe of the physical world around us; the SSO will explore these thems in his orchestral overture World Music, conducted by guest conductor Angela Holt from the Cincinnati Conservatory. Rimsky-Korsakov creates vivid images of the sea and nineteenth-century ideas about global travel in his masterwork Scheherazade, featuring concert master Li-Yuan Ho. A special highlight of this concert will be performances by the student winners of our Concerto & Aria Competition, soprano Sarah Meng and guitarist Sage Mitchell!
