ABOUT THE POSITION

Maintenance Mechanic I: Under close supervision, to learn by assisting skilled Maintenance Mechanic and Equipment Mechanics in the servicing and repairs and adjustments to County trucks and equipment; and to perform related work as required.

Maintenance Mechanic II: Under supervision, to service and make repairs and adjustments to County trucks and equipment; and to perform related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience sufficient to directly demonstrate possession and application of the following:

Maintenance Mechanic I:

Knowledge of: Equipment servicing and maintenance methods and procedures for modern vehicles; service requirements of common modern vehicles and equipment; common parts and supplies;

Ability to: to use modern tools and equipment common in lubricating and tire repairing; to make adjustments and minor repairs; to lubricate and service equipment thoroughly; to repair and install tires and tubes; to maintain records.

These employment standards are typically attained with training or experience related to servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles similar to that used by the County.

Maintenance Mechanic II:

Knowledge of: Modern equipment servicing and maintenance methods and procedures; service requirements of common modern vehicles and equipment; and common parts and supplies.

Ability to: Use of modern tools and equipment common in lubricating and tire repairing; make adjustments and minor repairs; lubricate and service equipment thoroughly; repair and install tires and tubes; service brakes and perform tune ups maintain records; follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative relationships with others.

These employment standards are typically attained with two years of experience comparable to a Maintenance Mechanic I with Shasta County.

Requirements

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Maintenance Mechanic I:

•Possession of a valid California driver license.

•Must obtain a Class A driver license within one year of appointment.

•Must provide own tools according list specified by County.

Maintenance Mechanic II:

•Possession of a valid Class A California driver license.

•Must provide own tools according list specified by County.
