Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU)
HBCU’s were established primarily to serve the higher education needs of the Black community. However, they are open to students of all ethnicities. Most HBCUs are located in the South and on the East Coast. They award bachelor’s degrees in many fields and many award master's and doctorate degrees. Students who receive at least a 2.0 GPA (higher for some partner institutions) and 30 transferable units are guaranteed transfer to a HBCU as part of the California Community Colleges partnership with more than 25 select HBCUs.
