Mentor Role & Responsibilities

As a mentor, you play a vital role in empowering new student veterans during their transition to college life. You’ll be a key part of their journey at Shasta College by:

  • Helping mentees adjust to life as college students.
  • Offering guidance on time management and study habits.
  • Introducing them to helpful campus resources.
  • Encouraging academic success through support and accountability.
  • Strengthening the Shasta College veteran community through active involvement in the VSSC.

Mentors will also collaborate with the program coordinator to identify relevant discussion topics and recommend campus resources during weekly mentor/mentee hours. Your experience and support can make all the difference in a fellow veteran’s path to success.
