CARES –Supplemental Assistance to Institutions of Higher Education (SAIHE-84.425S)

Award: $1,000,000

This round of CARES act funding, made available under the SAIHE will help support students with additional grants to assist them with expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds are restricted to direct student support only; no administrative costs are allowed.


Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program

Award: $549,133

Shasta College has receive this award to expand its successful Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education for Safety (CARES) program to Simpson University. The federal Grants to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program, funds institutions of higher education to develop coordinated community responses, such as Shasta CARES. These campus-wide programs address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses by implementing prevention strategies, enhancing survivor’s safety, providing services and support for survivors, and supporting efforts to hold offenders accountable.


TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS)

Award: $1,386,875

The SC ETS program will serve eight target schools located in rural communities and unincorporated areas of southern Shasta County. The proposed SC ETS Service Delivery Plan is strategically designed to increase the number of students who stay in school, finish high school, graduate, and go on to and complete postsecondary education. 

 


Butte County Office of Education Renewal (STEP-UP)

Award: $25,000

For the purpose of providing the Shasta Tehama Education Program-Unified Partnership (STEP-UP). Shasta College will provide high-quality college and career pathways to adults (students) with current involvement in the criminal justice system for up to 10 students per academic year. Deliver of services to include: academic and non-academic support services, program leadership and oversight, and convene regular STEP-UP advisory committee meetings for the purpose of communication and the evaluation of data. 


CAL-Fire HELO –Phase II

Award: $3,200,000

Fall 2019, Shasta College launched the HELO program to build workforce capacity within California’s forest sector. Developing a trained logging & forest workforce which builds capacity for improving forest health while stimulating low-income rural economies. This third phase of funding will extend staffing & associated supports until 2025.


ECE Mentoring Contract

Covers instructional costs related to the offering of a Mentor Seminar. 


CARES HERRF & ARP Student Aid (84.425E)-Augments

Federal funds to support student aid emergency grants to help students cover costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.


CARES HERRF & ARP Institutional Aid Increase (84.425F)-Augments

Award provided as Reimbursement: $16,584,683

Federal funds to help cover institutional costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which can also be used to support direct payments to students.


CCCCO Trustee Fellowship (Aspen)

Award: $65,750

Funding and consultation from the Aspen Institute will allow Shasta College to build a Trustee Fellowship Team of diverse stakeholders to develop a process to ensure that equity and inclusion are built into Shasta College’s curriculum review cycle and instructional practices in a deliberate, intentional manner. These will ensure that equity mindedness as a goal is transparent to the campus community through our processes and pedagogy. 


CCCCO Direct Assessment CBE

Award: $496,250

The Chancellor's Office is establishing a collaborative composed of up to 10 colleges (pending funding) to support the implementation of direct assessment competency-based education (CBE) associate degree programs. The purpose of the direct assessment CBE collaborative is to establish a direct assessment CBE learning community to inform key aspects for system-wide implementation of direct assessment CBE. Interested districts and/or colleges will apply for funds through an application process established by the Chancellor’s Office. 


CAL-Fire Forest Health Grant -Augmentation

Award: $410,000

Grantee and CAL FIRE have amended the existing agreement to increase the grant amount and to update the project budget, scope of work and project map. Through collaboration with University of Nevada-Reno (UNR), LaTour Demonstration State Forest, and University of California Agriculture & Natural Resources, Shasta College will be facilitating the completion of mastication on 282.1 acres on the LaTour Demonstration State Forest-Royston THP as required in support of UNR’s research project funded through Grant 8GG18609.


Regional Director –for Employer Engagement Renewal

Award: $200,000

Augmentation & Contract Extension: $50,000

First 5 Shasta – 2021 Week of the young child (WOYC)

Award provided as Reimbursement: $500

WOYC 2021 grant funds will support Shasta College ECE's Inspirational Rocks for our Community project. Families pick up rock painting materials kits and create inspirational rocks to share/leave/hide/trade in their neighborhoods and community. Supports family engagement, social-emotional and fine motor development for children and opportunities to show empathy, kindness, love and caring for others. A second round of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES HEERF) Act funding to help students with emergency Financial Aid and to help cover costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus.  


Perkins IC 2020-21

Award: $364,359

Perkins funding will support professional development of CTE faculty members, procure new equipment that will maintain the programs with industry expectations, promote CTE programs to area educational institutions and within the community, and provide access to the education through textbook acquisition. Faculty members made requests for Perkins funding for required items during the annual planning process for 2019-20. The Perkins Team made up of college faculty, staff, and representatives from related industries reviewed the requested required items and ranked them according to their alignment of Perkins priorities.
