Recommendations are informed by labor market data and transfer feasibility; however, students are not limited to the programs listed. If you are preparing to transfer and would like help identifying a reputable, affordable, and transfer friendly online or local university, the BOLD team is here to support you.
How to Choose a University
When exploring bachelor’s degree completion options, prioritize institutions that meet the following criteria:
Institutional Criteria
- Regionally accredited
- Non profit
- Affordable (total tuition is less than $30,000)
- Accessible (the university accepts 60 or more semester transfer units and/or has flexible transfer dates)
- Adult learner focused (designed for working students)
Personal Fit & Planning
- Application deadlines
- Modality (online, hybrid, or in person)
- Academic structure (semester, quarter, monthly, or 6 month terms)
- Financial aid (Pell Grant, Cal Grant, scholarships)
- Start dates (fall, spring, or rolling enrollment)
- Additional fees (technology, proctoring, lab, etc.)
- Prerequisites (campus, major, or graduation requirements)
- Transfer unit policies
