What hazardous materials labels/placards must be on containers in my area of responsibility?

Manufacturers label their products in accordance with state and federal regulations. These labels should not be removed. If the product is being transferred into other containers, (spray bottles, 1-gal. bottles, 5-gal. bottles, pails, etc.) these other containers must be labeled with the product name (the identifier that cross references to the product's SDS/MSDS) and the hazard warnings that appear on the original container label (or in the product's SDS/MSDS).

If you transfer a hazardous material into a different container, you must label the new container!

The GHS, NFPA 704 and DOT labeling systems are commonly used and are described below. Some manufacturers will include all three systems on their products.
