President's Update: December 18, 2020
For my final update this year, I simply want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your dedication to our students and our mission over these past months. There are so many stories to tell and share about the ways we have come together to do amazing things. To the Shasta College Community:
For my final update this year, I simply want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your dedication to our students and our mission over these past months. There are so many stories to tell and share about the ways we have come together to do amazing things. I can in no way cover all of them I know about, and I am sure I am only aware of a small percentage of the stories that could and should be told.
Our EOC operations have simply been amazing, our physical plant staff have continued to keep our campus clean and groomed, our IT staff have been creative in meeting employee and student needs, our Foundation has worked diligently to distribute over $100,000 in emergency grants, our cafeteria workers have stepped up and been trained to help cover the front entrance, giving our campus safety staff a much needed break and our Health & Wellness staff have adapted to helping students remotely. Our EWD staff have adapted to provide new avenues of support to our communities. Our student services staff have adapted and continue to work diligently to help students enroll, obtain financial aid (over $1.8 million in CARES act money distributed to students), and participate in our many services and programs like PACE, EOPS, Foster/Kinship, SCI/FI, STEP-UP and many others to help them succeed. And our faculty have continued to connect with our students, engage in their learning, adapt their approaches and courses, and meet the counseling and library needs of our students.
Every area of campus services and academics has been a success story worthy of sharing and praise. I am confident I did not list every department or area above, but I know that each one has worked with creativity and dedication to help our students.
Thank you all once again for your amazing commitment to our communities. I am humbled to be a part of the great asset that Shasta College is for our area.
Happy holidays, everyone!
