The Shasta College Day Jazz Band will be performing a compilation concert on May 4th, at 7:30pm in the Shasta College Theatre with the Shasta College Jazz Choir and the Jazz Big Band. Together, they will perform a variety of Jazz Standards composed by Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillispie, Duke Ellington, John Coletrane, and other great Jazz composers for your enjoyment.

Our concert will begin with the Day Jazz Class which is a non audition performance class that is open to all instrumental music students who are interested in learning to solo, learning jazz music theory, and who are working to developing their creative jazz solo skills. Every year we are proud to have several new students who join our class to create improvised jazz solos for the first time.

The Day Jazz Class is directed by Chris Y. Uchibori and his student assistants; Shasta College Jazz Choir is Directed by Dr. Elizabeth Waterbury, and conducted by Adam Ferris; and Shasta College Jazz Big Band is directed by Dan Neece.

Tickets are available at the door, and through the college website www.shastacollege.edu. General admission is $3.00.
