It’s that time of year again. The time when community colleges students across the state start applying to universities so that they can transfer the following fall term. Shasta College students will get constant reminders while on campus to ensure that they get this important message. Shasta College students will have access to visiting schools this fall semester, free of charge, via a Shasta College bus. These campus tours will take students to see CSU East Bay, CSU Chico and UC Davis. CSU Chico and Humboldt State will be providing On-the-Spot Admissions/Instant Admissions for students in the month of November. This is a special service that these universities provide Shasta College students where an admissions representative from that university will review the students’ college application and tell them, on-the-spot, if they are on track to be accepted into the following fall term to the university.

Students can also benefit from an increased number of Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) that Shasta College is providing. The ADT program guarantees that a student with an Associate Degree for Transfer from their California Community College who meets the CSU minimum eligibility requirements will be admitted to a CSU (but not necessarily to a particular campus or major). Students who complete an ADT Degree may be given a special GPA bump when applying to an impacted campus outside their local area or an impacted major that is deemed similar. Students with an ADT degree enter the CSU system with junior standing. Students who are admitted and enrolled in a program that has been deemed similar will have the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree with no more than 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of coursework.

Shasta College students interested in transferring to a University of California (UC) campus can benefit from the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program.  The TAG program provides students a guarantee of transfer into one of six UC campuses as long as they meet the specified requirements. Theses UC campuses include UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz.

The priority application filing period for students to submit their CSU or UC applications for the Fall 2015 term are listed below.

California State University (CSU):  October 1 – November 30

University of California (UC):  November 1-30
