Note Taking Services

Note Taking services may be made for students who have a disability, limiting their ability to take in-class notes.
There are typically two ways for a student to receive notes.

  • PACE provides note-taking support software to students. Licenses are issued by appointment and depend on approved accommodations.
  • When available, PACE can assign an in-person note-taker. Students can access notes through the PACE app by following these steps:
    • Log in to the Shasta Portal and open the PACE App
    • In the left-hand Accommodations menu, select Notetaking Services
    • Click the Available Note(s) for Download tile
    • View the list of available notes and select Download to open a PDF for each class session
    • To save the file, click the download arrow in the top right corner and store it in a folder on your computer

(Tip: Create a separate folder for each class and include the class date in the file name for easy organization.)

Apply to be a Note Vendor

You can apply to be a note vendor for a class you are currently registered in. You will need to know the class and course number for which you are applying to take notes. Ex: F1234 would be the course number.

  • Log into the Shasta College Portal
  • Select the PACE App
  • Select "Sign Up As A Notetaker"
  • Enter the class and course number for which you are applying to take notes. Ex: F1234

The PACE office will contact you via email to confirm your notetaking assignment and directions on how to upload your notes.

Once You are an Assigned Note Vendor

Scroll down the center panel until you see the names of the course(s) you take notes for and click View to the right of the course name; click Continue to upload your notes.

  • Select Class and the week of the semester in Notes for drop down menus; then check the box next to the day of the week.
  • Next to Select File, click Choose File and navigate to the file of notes; then click Upload Notes.
