Applicants desiring advanced placement in the ADN program must apply for the program by submitting applications during the established ADN Application filing periods. Enrollment placements are based on space availability. As class positions become available, applicants are invited to enroll in a class.

Qualified applicants may request Advanced Placement through the Course Challenge process. A qualified applicant must meet all application requirements and have successfully completed previous related educational programs or course work as listed below. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit proof of eligibility and supporting materials upon request. 

Categories of qualified applicants that may seek Advanced Placement through the Challenge Procedure include:  

  • Licensed Vocational Nurses seeking to advance their training to an Associate of Science Degree and their licensure to Registered Nursing. 
  • Ancillary licensed/trained applicants, includes Armed Forces Services Medical Personnel.
  • Transfer applicants from another ADN or BSN nursing program.

Enrollment Specifics for Advanced Placement​

Licensed Vocational Nurse/LPN Armed Service Transfer Student  
* * * Submit qualified Multicriteria Application
* * * Transcripts from accredited school, course descriptive & objectives
* * if applicable   Current, unencumbered LVN or LPN license
*   * A new graduate within two (2) years of graduation,
OR
Two years of full-time or 4,000 hours of work experience within the last 5 years,
OR
If leaving a nursing program, student cannot have been out of school more than 1 year or 2 consecutive semesters
2, 3 2 2, 3 Evaluation for entry into semester 2, 3
  * * Honorable Discharge (DD214)
OR
Transfer from another program must have letter from Program Director - left in good standing
*     Must take a 3 unit Transition Course prior to starting the program if entering into the third semester
