Register soon!

Emergency Medical Responder

It's not too late to register for the Summer Scheduled Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) class!

Although it is not a pre-requisite for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class at Shasta College, it has proven to prepare potential EMT students for success in the EMT class.  Shasta College's Emergency Medical Responder class also provides you with the following:

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certificate
  • California Public Safety First Aid (PSFA) Certificate
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer (CPR)

With your EMR certificate you can submit to Sierra-Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services in order to get your EMR card which is an EMS pre-requisite for many local Fire Departments and Forestry Fire Fighting agencies.  This certificate is also a pre-requisite for registering in the Shasta College Fire Fighter Academy.

With your California Public Safety First Aid certificate, you will meet the minimum EMS training requirements for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).  This certificate is also a pre-requisite for registering in the Shasta College Fire Fighter Academy.

With your Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer card, you will meet one of the minimum pre-requisites for Fire, EMS and Health Organizations.  This certificate is also a pre-requisite for registering in the Shasta College Fire Fighter Academy.

Emergency Medical Technician

The Shasta College Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program has prepared many for their future careers in Emergency Medical Services.  Shasta College's EMT program prepares students for full and part-time jobs in the Fire and EMS fields through intensive hands-on training. This course will prepare individuals to deliver pre-hospital basic life support at emergencies scenes and during transport to medical facilities.
