The Shasta College Concert Orchestra provides musical training and enriching ensemble experiences to intermediate- and advanced-level musicians of all ages throughout the northstate region.

Strings for All Seasons!
The Concert Orchestra (MUS-44 & MUS-344) rehearses 3 hours per week on Wednesday afternoons, presenting two concerts annually. They are a flexible chamber orchestra performing a wide variety of different music, from standard orchestral repertoire to pops and cinema arrangements. This is a wonderful ensemble for youth and community string players (and others!) who wish to develop their technique and sense of ensemble, playing intermediate arrangements for larger ensembles.
For newer players, Beginning Strings (MUS-25 & MUS-325) meets 3 hours per week on Monday afternoons, and represents an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of music-reading, left-hand and bow technique, ensemble performance, and other skills fundamental to the playing of violins, violas, ‘cellos, and basses (the ‘orchestral’ stringed instruments). You can even join if you have never touched an instrument before and don’t know which of this family of instruments most interests you!
