Two Orchestras in One!

The Concert Orchestra features a full symphony orchestra comprised of strings, winds, and percussion, and presents two concerts annually.  The orchestra rehearses and performs a wide variety of music from famous standard orchestral pieces, to movie and pop music.  Musicians also have the opportunity to participate in a side-by-side concert with the North State Symphony.

The Chamber Strings is a select ensemble that provides an extra opportunity for the more advanced string players of the Concert Orchestra to explore and perform some of the finest works for string orchestra and be challenged to perform music at the highest levels.

Both ensembles rehearse in Room 633 on Wednesdays during the fall and spring semesters at the following times:

  • Concert Orchestra from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
  • Chamber Strings from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

An audition is required for placement. For more information about joining, please contact the Music Director, Dr. Jeff Specht (jspecht@shastacollege.edu).
