The Shasta College Symphonic Band (with 90+ members!) is one of the largest college/community bands in the state of California and draws musicians from Shasta and the surrounding counties. The band serves the educational needs of music majors, but also provides enriching musical opportunities to musicians of all ages. Some families have sent multiple generations to perform with the band!

The ensemble performs two concerts annually, and regularly performs at the Freedom Festival at the Civic Auditorium on Independence Day. The band promotes the best of the traditional American concert band experience, playing everything from standard band literature and contemporary music to marches and fanfares, as well as show tunes, movie music, and pop medleys.

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings during the fall and spring semesters, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Membership is open to all standard band instruments. Although an audition is not required for participation, all members are expected to have previous band experience.

For more information about joining, please contact our conductor, Dr. Jeff Specht (jspecht@shastacollege.edu).
