Shasta Symphony Orchestra
The Shasta Symphony Orchestra is an advanced, select ensemble of 60-80 student and community musicians from throughout the North State.
Founded in 1950, the Shasta Symphony Orchestra ("SSO") rehearses and performs the finest orchestral literature, from well-known standard works to premieres of new compositions. The SSO performs an average of four concerts per year, and regularly features guest solo artists and choral-orchestral collaborations.
Each fall, the Shasta Symphony hosts the annual Emerging Artist Solo & Aria Competition where the winners get to perform a solo or sing an aria with the orchestra. Each spring, the SSO also hosts a new composition reading session where regional composers can have their works played by the orchestra.
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings in Room 633 during the fall and spring semesters from 6:30 pm - 9:20 pm. For more information about joining, please contact Music Director & Conductor, Dr. Jeff Specht (firstname.lastname@example.org).
