To the Shasta College Community:

I trust your week is going well.  I have a few updates to share today focusing around some Success Stories:

Congratulations to our Starbucks store manager, Nick Koenig, who was awarded Manager of the Quarter last month. He was voted #1 out of 165 stores in our region for customer care, teamwork and performance. Congratulations to Nick and his hard-working team at Starbucks!

Next, we have recently been featured in two state-wide publication through the Chancellor’s Office.  First, our ACE (Accelerated College Education) program was featured in a Vision-in-Action communication – see https://www.cccco.edu/-/media/CCCCO-Website/Files/Communications/vision-in-action/Shasta-college-story-a11y.pdf and our Campus Safety work on the CARES grant program was featured in last week’s Outlook newsletter – see https://www.cccco.edu/About-Us/News-and-Media/California-Community-Colleges-Outlook-Newsletter/shasta-college-sex-assault-prevention-grant.  Well done to all involved!

I also just learned that three of our students are being honored by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) as 2022 All-California Award winners.  Congratulations to Raymon Curtis, Katherine Haas, and  Eythana Miller!  A complete statewide list of students being honored can be found at this link.

I also want to echo Cathy Anderson, Academic Senate President, in congratulating the following faculty on being granted tenure at the board meeting on Wednesday.  The tenure process is long and thorough, and it represents a lot of work by the committees, but even more by the individuals below.  Congratulations again!

  • Crystal Hilton, Communication Studies
  • Yvette Marley, American Sign Language
  • Noehly Padilla, EOPS Counselor
