Test Facilitation

Examples of test facilitation include: proctoring of exams, extended test time, use of scribes, exams in audio format, enlargement of exams, exams in braille, use of readers, special lighting, use of word processor, or the need for a distraction-reduced environment.

Tests are given in the Testing Center, Room 2215. Please remember that all testing requests need to be scheduled at least two (2) business days prior for regular exams,  and one (1) week in advance for final exams.  Testing schedules should be on your class syllabus, please make sure to plan.

You can now schedule your exams online by accessing AIM for PACE disability services:

  • Log in to the Shasta Portal and click AIM for PACE disability services
  • Click My Accommodations on the left side menu, then Alternative Testing
  • If you have never scheduled an exam, you will need to log in to AIM for PACE disability services to read and sign (type) your name on the testing agreement contract
  • Choose the class you are scheduling a test for on the center drop down menu and click Schedule an Exam
  • Enter the date, time and check which of your accommodations you want to use on the test.

If you need assistance with these steps, please email PACE-Services@shastacollege.edu or call (530) 242-7751.

Note Providing, Scribes, and Readers

  • Note providing arrangements may be made for students who have a disability, limiting their ability to take in-class notes.
  • Scribes (writers) are provided to students requiring assistance in producing written material during exams only. Scribes write down material dictated by students for examinations.
  • Reader services are provided for examinations that are not readily available in an audio format.

For students with an accommodation to receive notes

You can access your notes on AIM for PACE disability services:

  • Click Download Note to open a .pdf of the notes submitted for each class session
  • To save the downloaded .pdf file click the down arrow in the upper right corner and save the file into a folder you can find again on your computer (Suggestion: Make a file folder for each class you receive notes for and put the date of the class session in the file name)

If you need assistance with these steps, please email PACE-services@shastacollege.edu or call 530-242-7794.
